Session 1: Forests ecosystem services provision and demand, and forest owners’ behavior

The objective of this session is to contribute to a better understanding of the efficient management of multifunctional forest lands. The management of such forest has typically important spatial and temporal dynamics both at the demand and supply sides. These dynamics are important for the decision of forest owners and policy design. The focus of this session will be on the behavior of forest owners and his/her decision of timber production and other ecosystem services provision, in the context of multiple changes and perturbations (Climate and natural hazard, market, land uses…).

Session 2: Forest sector modelling

This session aims at presenting the newest features in forest sector modelling at global, national and sub-national scales. Historically, forest sectors models have been developed to explore climate change issues and the impacts of the subsequent mitigation and adaptation policies. Recently, the development of more integrated forest sector models, which include i.e. carbon accounting, forest dynamic, land use change or life-cycle analysis components make it possible to analyze forest mitigation and adaptation policies in a wider context, emphasizing its interactions with other sectors.
